Cedar Ridge, California

Earliest accounts of Cedar Ridge area,
in the 1870's have George Kress owning 200 acres. First
known as Kress Ridge, an important stop for
Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad and post office, located somewhere
close to what in now the intersection of Hwy # 174 and Brunswick.
It shows up in history later as Cress Ridge, Cedar Cress, and today it
is known as Cedar Ridge.

The Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad earned the nickname of the
"Never Come Never Go". It was late this day in 1893 when the
Renfrow Circus came to Grass Valley. The train left for Colfax
filled with the circus animals and people. The picture tells the rest of
the story.

Born In Germany, was a
sheriff, billiards parlor owner, and last account he was
cited for selling liquor to the Indians.
